We have completed month one of 2021 (tick!)! I feel like it has been a long month and one where resilience has had to prevail. To help me cope with this seemingly never-ending month I have turned to comfy, cosy items to help keep me sane and happy! So I thought I would compile all of my January essentials that I am sure will be used long into February.
The Velvetiser
As a lover of hot chocolates, The Velvetiser created by Hotel Chocolat, is a complete game changer. It makes the creamiest, frothiest, most delicious hot chocolates with such ease!
All you have to do is add milk (or a plant based alternative) to The Velvetiser and a sachet of your favourite flavour of hot chocolate, press the on button and let the machine do its magic. In 2.5 minutes, you will have a barista-style hot chocolate in your home.
Not only does it make hot chocolates, but also a variation of lattes. I personally don’t drink coffee, but if you are a latte lover then this could be the perfect device for you!
The Velvetiser comes in 3 different colours: Copper, White and Charcoal. I have the Copper edition.
Candles
Chester (my boyfriend) and I are huge lovers of candles. They bring so much cosiness to a space and really add to a luxury, and quite often romantic, atmosphere.
We usually have 2-3 candles burning at once and always ensure we have backups ready to go. Candles are the perfect treat to yourself or to someone you care for and really are a long lasting gift. They have helped massively to make us feel a little luxe throughout January and bring us a pocket of joy and peace into each day.

Slippers
As you can see there is a continuing cosy theme, but slippers are a January essential and are 100% my most worn pair of footwear in 2021 (so far…). I do own a few pairs of slippers but I treated myself to some new ones in January. They are so comfy, keep your toes nice a toasty and they are a little eccentric – but I feel a little sprinkling of boujee is needed at the minute!
Whether you want a pair of boujee or classic slippers I have a couple of recommendations for you:
Pyjamas
Pyjamas have also been a frequent go-to in my wardrobe. I spend most days, and all evenings, lounging around in my pjs. I find that my most luxurious, high quality pyjamas have been my essentials this month. They keep my warm and cosy but they also make me feel slightly ‘done-up’, as if I am wearing my ‘Sunday Best’ pyjamas.
Whichever pyjamas I reached for, you can guarantee they are cosy, comfy and thick!
Smart Loungewear
For the days when I want to get ready and out of my pyjamas, feeling ready for the day, I have been turning to smart loungewear. Something I feel really comfortable in and can keep warm, but also something that I feel smart in and like i’m ready to take on the day (even if the day only involves a trip to Sainsburys…).
I honestly do find that getting up, getting ready and getting dressed really starts my day off on a better foot and leads me to have a more productive day all round. So if you have a huge tick list of things you want to get done, try putting on something slightly smart and watch your mindset transform into the productive drive you desire!
My Legend Planner
As I say this month has seemed to last a lifetime, with many days rolling into one. One thing I have utilised is the use of my planner this month. Something I can turn to to keep me on track, ticking off goals as I go and helps me remember what I have achieved this month.
I purchased my Legend Planner at the beginning of January, but one of the things I love about it is that it is undated, so you can start the diary whenever you want, filling in the dates as you go. It has space for goal setting, a monthly overview, a monthly review, daily diary space, habit trackers and so much. It really is my space to organise my life and maintain my focus. It is also a great place for me to reflect on the previous weeks or month, which in times when you feel like you may not be doing much, helps you to see how much you have actually done!
Whilst these are my January essentials, I am quite confident that many of these items will be needed well into February. Take care, keep safe and stay snuggled!
